It's International Rare Disease Day!

My son Rhys, my hero, my inspiration! He has MPS I, Hurlers Syndrome

Good morning friends! Today is International Rare Disease Day, if you have something purple, wear it to show your support! Purple has always been my favorite color, so it's not a problem for me to wear something in honor of my son Rhys who suffers from a rare disease:)

I don't know where February has gone to, it whipped by so quickly! Today we are expecting a snow and freezing rain storm. It was to hit earlier this morning but now it's changed to around lunch time. The kids went to school so I am hoping the weather is not too bad for their ride home cause I can't go and get them :P Since it is so gloomy around here I am having a hard time getting around to get stuff done. My wonderful husband brought in the wood for me before he went into work saving me from slipping on the ice! Yesterday I moved all the furniture around in our bedroom, that was not fun when you have a small room and lots of furniture :( I need to straighten up my closet so I can shut the doors and tidy up my crafting area (which I want to move into a different room, lol), than our room is done. I also went to the goodwill store yesterday and found some more wooden bowls...can never have enough of them! I think I just might settle down and paint them and stain them, spring colors I am planning...something to brighten the house up. First I will sip on my coffee infused with Irish Cream, yum! to give me a boost :D

Have a wonderful day my friends,

Blessings, Trish

The storm today...

On the highway going very slow, 2 snowplows were up ahead.
Our driveway...had to put the truck in 4 wheel drive just to get up it!

Well the storm started around 6 a.m., it was snowing some but not too much...way less than what had been predicted. The school buses were not canceled although they should have been because of what we got later on. James,Kaedyn and I went out to look at mini vans since ours is on it's last legs...We stopped in at Millbrook and the snow had stopped but the rain began. By the time we had finished lunch, it was snowing so bad again that we only looked at one auo place than headed home. the highway was down to one lane and was at a snails pace, although there were some really dumb people that were in such a hurry that they were passing everyone in the lane that was not plowed. Thank God James was driving because I was panicking. There were cars in the ditches and visibility but pretty much zero! We decided to pick Brynn and Rhys up from school early because it was getting really bad out and the side roads were not plowed at all. We found out later on the news that part of the highway that we had been on had been shutdown shortly after we had been on it because tractor trailers could not get up the hills on the snowy highways and people were getting stuck in the passing lanes therefor emergency vehicles could not get through to help those that were in accidents. stupid drivers that have no patience! We finally made it home safely but our driveway was mess. Thank goodness for 4 wheel drive. The snow has stopped, it is wet and very heavy. Our hydro was going off and on constantly because of the heavy snow. Noah made it back from his trip safely and the bus was not to delayed. Good thing cause where he came from is getting this awful weather now! Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day weather wise and w can get out and look at more vehicles, I need one badly.

Hope everyone had a safe day and has a wonderful weekend! Wishing I was in Florida with mu mom right now, it was 85 degrees there today :)

Hugs and blessings, Trish

Another storm is on it's way :P

Good Thursday morning everyone! You wouldn't know it to look outside that a big snow storm is due tonight and into tomorrow. The sun is shining and it's not too chilly out right now. I ran to the co-op this morning to stock up on feed for the pigs, chickens and horse, grabbed a bag of cat and dog food cause you just never know how much snow we are going to get. also picked up a bottle of Irish cream which I am enjoying right now in my coffee :) My son Noah went on a trip to Ottawa Tuesday with his school and they are due back around dinner time tomorrow, I really hope the storm is over by then as eastern Ontario is supposed to get it back and driving on the 401 can be treacherous, especially out that way. I will be on pins and needles til he gets in our door and is safely home. Tuesday was my hubby's 40th birthday, yep, we are finally the same age for a few months anyways, I may be older but he has more grey hair, lol. I cooked his favourite dinner, cabbage rolls and 3 cheese canneloni. My oldest daughter was here for dinner, she moved out a few weeks ago ( I am not happy about that as she's only 16), but it was a very nice visit and we shared lots of laughter and memories, and the kids missed her so much :(. I miss her too!
I have been lazy getting stuff done around here! My one cabinet is in the kitchen and the freezer is now in the storage room which is mostly painted. I haven't really gotten to decorating the cabinet yet, waiting for the perfect things to put in it and my kitties like getting in there and knocking stuff out so it has to be something non breakable...I swear they are like kids getting into everything! The big NASCAR race is on this weekend, my son Rhys has been counting down the days since it ended last season. Hubby is on call for work this weekend too, so hopefully he won't get called in during the race. I am going to have to find a hobby that gets me out of the house while the races are on, lol.

anyhow, I have added a few pics of the pigs (now over 150 lbs and ready to be put in the freezer), and our surprise hatch rooster, Rocky Jr. His mom randomly hatches out chicks in odd places every August, and Rocky is the only one that didn't get nabbed by coyotes or hawks. His daddy was a banty, hence the feathered feet, and his mom is a barred rock. What a combo eh?
Well, I need to bring in a bit more wood, so hubby doesn't have to do it when he gets home. Hoping you are all having a wonderful day and if you are in the snow storm area, stay safe and warm! We could get 10 cms or more :(

P.S. for some reason I couldn't load the pics on this post, had to add them up above on the layout of the blog :( I guess I have rearranging to do, lol

Take care and hugs,

Trish

Take the paint brush away from me!!

Happy Friday everyone! I really don't know where this week has gone, it just flew by! Actually, this month is flying by, hopefully spring will be here in not to time :)
Tuesday i ran to the hardware store to pick up some paint to fill in the space where we took an ugly wall cupboard off the kitchen wall where one of my new cabinets is going. Thank goodness that cupboard is down cause we were getting sore wacking our heads off the corner of it coming down our stairs, my husband got it the most first thing in the mornings getting up for work in the dark...all you would here is some rather loud cursing, lol. Anyhow, ended up painting the entire wall so that you couldn't tell where the edges were and now I am looking at the rest of the walls thinking I really need to wash them cause they are yellow compared to the new paint! Tuesday night hubby made an outlet in the storage room for the freezer and while rewiring it, he fell down the basement steps :( These are narrow stairs and he is quite sore from it. a little bruising and swelling in his arms but he is okay thankfully. so than I got the wise idea that the storage room walls needed to be repainted before we put the freezer in...by now hubby is rolling his eyes saying I was making more work for myself but I am thinking that if we are going through all this trouble to make it look nice, its better to do it now rather than trying to paint around all sorts of stuff...so off to the hardware store I went again on Wednesday and bought primer and more paint...this time I got recycled paint in a really nice medium tan color and it was only $17 for the big can...much better than the $32 for the other brand. Guess what I did yesterday?? Primed and painted 3/4 of the storage room!! I think I should be an interior decorator because I am pretty good a picking out the right colors and hubby liked it alot :) so after the kids went to bed, I decided to paint around the door trims with the same color, not just one door frame, but 3! Much easier when you don't have to worry about little hands touching wet paint by mistake. Than this morning I went and painted 2 more door frames ( we have 6 doorways off the kitchen including the front door) so I wanted them all to match :D What a difference it makes having fresh paint that compliments the wall color. I am done for now, I have a headache from the paint fumes, lol but I will share pics when all is completed! Hoping everyone is having a spectacular Friday and please say a prayer for friends of ours who lost their young son Gabe to MPS II Hunters Syndrome, very similiar to my son Rhys's disease, MPS I Hurlers. We having been losing alot of kiddos this past month or so and it breaks my heart knowing that one day it will be my child :(

Blessings and hugs, Trish
