Found a pic from the auction website of the washstand/dry sink that I got for $22.50. It's on the left hand side. Don't know if I will keep it that color, would love to paint it a more "prim" color, any suggestions? :)
Can't ever go wrong with a distressed black finish....or even a chippy farmhouse white....guess it depends where you're going to be putting it...But it has lots of possibility! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
Hehe, I like the idea of black!! My family would say differently since I like to paint things black lol, and my husband, for some reason likes the color the way it is :( I showed him this pic and he couldn't believe I got it for such a good price...maybe he should go auction hinting with me sometime!! The other cabinet shown went for over $100...thank goodness it wasn't me who paid for it because it had loose hinges and knobs and was more scratched up than the pic showed.
They are so lovely, I would study antiquing techniques, maybe google it or on youtube? and paint them 2 layers, scratched and cracked in all the right places!
I have a dry sink exactly like that! I got mine for $80; wish I'd gotten it for 22.50! I left mine natural. I have a difficult time painting over a perfectly good wood finish. If it were all scratched up or weathered, I would paint it. I love color and I love distressed and stained for an aged look! ★Linda★
I am a stay at home mom of 5 children and I am married to my wonderful husband James for almost 9 years. We live on a 75 acre farm in the rolling hills of Kendal, Ontario which has been in my husband's family since the mid 1880's. Our house is over 150 yrs old and I love it! We have 3 dogs, 3 cats, 1 horse,1 hamster, and numerous chickens and ducks. Life is never dull around here to say the least. I love antiques and the simpler way of life and I have a interest in Prim Decor which is slowly but surely taking over my home. I also dabble in candle making. soap making and prim crafts but I have alot to learn.
My motto is ;
I BELIEVE, MIRACLES DO HAPPEN!, since our 9 yr old son was born with a rare genetic disorder called Hurlers Syndrome/ MPS1 in which he received a bone marrow transplant at the age of 11 months old to slow down the progression of his disease... during this time he was so ill that he was not expected to recover and come home with us... BUT HE DID!! And against all odds, he is still with us today :) So Believe That Miracles Can Happen!!
