Good evening! The week is almost over, wow it's gone by fast! Today's weather...like alot of you, we got snow, and not just a dusting, good amount that stuck to the ground. But it is disappeared by the afternoon with the temps going up. Now we are getting light rain. This weekend is supposed to be lovely, sunny and warmer temps so I think we will be outdoors! Yesterday was a beauty, I actually got to sit out on my deck with a coffee and enjoy, after a long winter...The birds were singing, the cows and calves running and playing, my chickens and ducks roaming around making lots of noise, lol. I love nature! i even tackled the gardens and raked some of our lawn in anticipation of the wild african violets that are one of the first flowers to come up in the spring. I love the little purple petals :) I cannot wait for spring to hit full blast!
My mom is on her way home from her 3 month stay in Florida. She's had great weather this year. She left yesterday afternoon and is due back Friday evening. I am praying she has a safe trip back and does not run into any nasty weather! We have missed her greatly but we talk on the phone once a week. Maybe she'll bring me something home from the Hobby Lobby store that she visited ( her first time ever). The minute she walked into that store she knew I would have had a hayday in there, lol. Hint hint mom, what did you bring me?
Well, guess I'd better run, lunches to make, agendas to sign and money to dole out for popcorn day at school etc.

Hope you all have had a fantastic week!

Oh, thought I'd post a pic of my cabinet all done and what I put in it. I don't have alot of prims to display **sigh**, so what do you think?

Have a blessed evening!

Hugs, Trish

Yay, It's friday, the sun is shining, although it's still chilly out there! This week has gone by quickly for me. All my kids are back to school and healthy, whoohoo :)
I managed to squeeze in time to paint my little thrift store cabinet, and stain it although I haven't finished the inside yet because I ran out of paint, lol. That will be my weekend project... Than I have to figure out what I'm going to display in it, oh the possibilities!

Sunday marks the 9th anniversary of my son Rhys's bone marrow transplant. Some days it feels like it has been forever and other days it feels like we were going through all of that just yesterday. I came across pictures of his stay up at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. They were bittersweet to see. I need to get a scanner so that I can upload them onto my computer. There was one of him smiling and getting a basin bath the night before he Code Blued and was and his lungs were hemmoraging and he had to be intubated right in his room. That was one of the scariest moments of my life, feeling helpless and watching all the doctors and nurses crowded in this little room trying to save my child and we were not allowed in the room. Than there was another one of my husband and Rhys sitting in a rocking chair in the isolation room where patients have to be during the bone marrow transplant until their cells grow back, my husband was wearing one of those yellow gowns and Rhys was sitting on his lap and they were playing Mario World on the Nintendo 64 to pass the time as it was so boring in that little room. Memories, sometimes ones we don't really want to think about because of the experience we had to go through, but than again, it was all worth it because my son is still here with us! I think that I will have a special treat for Rhys on Sunday to celebrate his "rebirthday" and to enjoy knowing what a Miracle my little guy is. He has taught us so much and we thank God for every moment we have with him.
Okay, I'm off to get things done around here because no one else is going to do them, lol. Happy Friday everyone!!

Hugs, Trish

Spring is finally here!! for a day anyways....

I couldn't resist this cute hen nest display, it was only 50 cents :)

Good morning everyone! Second day of spring and at least it's better than yesterday cause today is sunny!! Can you believe though, tomorrow they are calling for a snow storm, 10- 15 cm of snow depending on the area. Yuck, I just want to put the snow pants and boots away. I'm liking seeing the grass underneath but not really loving my doggie clean up duty if you know what I mean! The birds are singing and chirping and I love getting up in the morning hearing my little banty rooster crowing :)
At least I have all kids back in school today that are suppose to be there, yesterday my oldest was home with a very sore throat and sore ear and loss of voice ( that can be a good thing when it comes to 15 yr olds, lol), but today she insisted on going so it's just me and my almost 5 yr old buddy Kaedyn.
I managed to escape the house after a long March break, I love being with the kids but not being able to take them anywhere because of the tire on my van having a hole in it made for a boring time. But, a few of them did go for sleepovers to friends houses so they had fun. Anyhow, Saturday I did go thrift shopping again. I found a few things. I got a little cabinet for 10 dollars and it has shelves in it. I want to paint it but I'm not sure what color. I was thinking a lighter blue and than staining it ontop to make it look older, but I have no clue. Any ideas anyone?

Well I guess I should go and get some chores done, I think I might even hang some laundry out on the line and the dreaded vacuuming needs to be done badly :P Of course these will wait until 'm done sipping my coffee with a wee bit of Irish Cream added to kick start my morning :)

Hope everyone is having a great morning!!

Hugs, Trish

Good Friday morning everyone!!

Let me first off begin with sending my thoughts and prayers to everyone who has been affected by the terrible earthquake and tsunami in Japan and Hawaii and to my family and friends who live in the areas that are likely to be affected as it moves its way towards the west coast. Stay safe everyone!

I thought I would post today since I may not be back here for a week, it's March Break for my kids and well, you all know that goes...busy,busy,busy.

We've had a mixed bag of weather this week. Lots and lots of rain, than freezing rain, than snow. Just as things were starting to melt and I was seeing bits of green/brown grass, boom, it's covered in white stuff again. I remember last year at this time and my kids were outside playing in t-shirts and begging to wear shorts and I was working up my garden. I don't think that's going to happen this coming week. Yes, we are expecting more rain this weekend, the farm fields are flooded and our driveway isn't looking so nice. There's alot of flooding in basements down in our village of Kendal, happens every springtime and everyone is rushing out to buy the pumps to help get rid of the water. Thank goodness we live on a hill so we don't have that problem as the water runs away from the house.

I've been painting some of my wooden things that I picked a few weeks ago, and I made a candle with one of the glass jars that had the hinged lid on it ( water lily scented and it smells so nice), and I made a jar lamp out of the blue ball mason jar and even tea stained the little shade that is on it. I'm itching to get doing more things, lol.I made another mason jar candle with the honey suckle fragrance that I had leftover from last year, I love burning it, it makes me think of spring!

Speaking of spring, my chickens have started laying eggs again, yippee! There is nothing like the taste of farm fresh eggs and we can't wait to have a taste this weekend with our yummy bacon breakfast!
Well, I hope you have all had a great week and have a wonderful weekend!
Until next time, blessings, Trish

Good Wednesday morning everyone, or as they say " Happy Hump Day", lol.
'm writing in purple as Monday was National Rare Disease and since my son has a rare disease it means that extra something to me other than purple is my favourite color, lol
I haven't really gotten much accomplished lately, I can't get out since the tire in my van has a flat and a leak in the sidewall so I get to stay home... I guess that means I stay out of trouble :D I'm just trying to stay warm, where the heck is Spring?? It's freezing here with the wind!
I have been feeling a little down lately. As some of you know, my son Rhys has MPS1, Hurlers Syndrome, a rare genetic disease with no cure, on treatment by either a bone marrow/ stem cell transplant or enzyme replacement. We are lucky that he is doing well, but over the past 3 days, friends of ours who have children with MPS3 Sanfillipo have lost their precious children. 3 beautiful girls ages 12 to 14, 3 wonderful families who are heartbroken and dealing with the knowledge that they will no longer see their children grow up. The only upside to this is that these beautiful angels will no longer have to feel pain or suffer from this devastating disease. And to top it off, there is no cure or treatment for Sanfillipo :( I cannot even begin to imagine what these families are going through. So reality has smacked me in the face again because I know that someday it's going to me my son. As much as we try to stay hopeful and have faith and try to push the fear to the farthest part of our mind, when you see that precious children are dying from a similiar disease, it brings those feelings of fear back up. We are coming up on the 9 th anniversary Rhys's bone marrow transplant on March 27th. We have been through many hard times, setbacks, emotional roller coasters etc., but we still have him healthy here with us. But it doesn't take much, a blink of an eye for that to all change. So I ask that you keep these families in your prayers as they go through this painful and saddening time and make sure you give your children and grandchildren some extra hugs!
In memory of ^^Steffanie^^,^^Sarah^^ and ^^Jasmin^^, fly high sweet girls, fly high.

Well, now that I've gotten teary eyed again,
up there on my sidebar is a link to an awesome giveaway, I mean a huge giveaway consisting of many thing from very talented people so go on over to follow them and enter to win!!
I'm off to putter around here, I've some little things I want to paint and I'm still trying to figure out how to thread the sewing machine that my mom gave me... I did not get my sewing skills from my wonderful mom, I don't think I will ever be as good a sewer as her, she's 79 and still makes doll clothes from my daughter, yep, those little itty bitty Barbie clothes, and water babies clothes, I just don't know how she does it and she's so fussy about it! maybe I'll eventually inherit those skills??

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are all having a great week!

Blessings and hugs,

Trish
