A better pic of the lovely antique primitive stave bucket I won!
Blue Ball mason jars and wood box holder
inside the firkin
My very first firkin!

some cute cushions

tin sap bucket and glass jars with hinged glass lids
Wooden bench that I will repaint and a cute wooden ice cream bucket

The past few days have been good to me! I was able to find lots of goodies at some thrift stores so I will be kept busy painting most of them :)

I also got my very first firkin in the mail today, the one that I won on ebay! I love it and I'm sure I will be adding more to my collection! Ann also sent a surprise with the firkin, a really nice wooden spoon/butter paddle. She is so kind and has become one of very favourite ebay sellers! And of course she is the won that sold me the antique wooden stave bucket, I'm adding a better picture of it as well :)

Tuesday boredom leads to....

Well, this morning Kaedyn and I got really bored! I've had enough of being stuck in the house doing laundry and other chores and I wanted to give Kaedyn a break from the video game stuff, lol. Plus, I've had nothing to repaint or redo since before Christmas. So we decided to brave the cold and enjoy the nice sunshiney weather and made a trip to Bowmanville to the local Goodwill store and also vist a good friend of ours, Natalie at the Carriage House Antique store. Of course we had to stop at Tim Horton's first, can't pass that place by :) The Thrift store was not bad, we found some goodies, wooden things for me to makeover, and some nice blue Ball mason jars, 50 cents a piece, can't beat that price! ( sorry Nat, I beat you to them :) ), and I got some other little jars with the glass lids and metal hinges on them, they will make cute jar candles, and of course Kaedyn couldn't leave without me buying him a bag of toy cars which I don't mind at that price. Than we headed over to Nat's store and had a really nice visit with her and her cute bulldog Buster... if I didn't already have 3 dogs, I surely would have brought Buster home with me, he was so sweet :) There I bought an old tin sap bucket and of course Kaedyn spotted another Hotwheels car so he just had to have it! He's getting really good at keeping secrets from his siblings and didn't tell them at all that we even went out :)
Tomorrow, okay it looks like it's already today..is suppose to be nice weather again and I will have no one home with me, so I think I will go out earlier to a few more thrift stores and see what I can find! I have been itching to be creative and make something etc., so hopefully I discover some more goodies to keep me occupied for a bit! And I know for sure that I will be stopping to buy batteries for my camera so that I can show before and after pics!!
Happy Wednesday everyone!!

Hugs, Trish

Good morning! Thought I would use a brighter color today for my text, lol. It is wonderfully sunny out today, but that sun is deceiving! Brrrr! A good day to stay indoors for sure!
Well, I've got a couple of pics to show, just 2 of the lovely things I won on ebay lately.

The first is of an antique wooden stave bucket, I just love it! ( Thank you Ann! :), and the second is of an primitive antique rag runner rug, it is almost 11 feet long and 2 feet wide. The pics don't do these justice but they are once again from my cell phone. I seriously need to get new batteries for my camera, lol. I have the runner on our livingroom floor , not sure where I'm putting the bucket yet, I have to find just the right spot!! I have a few more things to arrive in the mail soon so I will definitely post pics of them!! Oh, I got my new issue of the APP magazine and I absolutely love it! It is going to keep me busy reading and looking forward to spring on these bitterly cold days!
Well, I'm off to have some lunch, hope everyone is having a fabulous week!!
Cheers, Trish

February 05, 2011

I hope that everyone survived the big snowstorm last week! We did, not as much snow as expected but it was windy so it drifted and I had alot of digging to do to make a path to the chicken coop and water bucket for our horse. The kids had a snow day as well but dear hubby had to go to work which was not fun driving as the roads weren't really plowed yet. We also had the lovely stomach flu go through the house :( After my last post, early that morning, I was horribly sick as well as my oldest daughter, ugghh. We couldn't move, not even to put wood on the woodstove. Thank goodness for the propane backup fireplace! Than Wednesday, my 12 yr old and 4 yr old starting the throwups one right after the other, I am so thankful that my husband has a strong stomach as I don't! Than Thursday, my 7 yr old daughter was sick. Friday was the only day that everyone was half decently feeling better and it was a P.A. day for the kids thank goodness. Today my hubby finally fell victim to the flu and has been in bed all day, poor guy. I honestly hope it is all over and done with because I need things back to normal!!
I'm so excited because 2 of the things I got of ebay arrived on Thursday so that cheered me up this week. I need to get a pic up of them but I have been so distracted with what's been going on,well, you know how it is, lol.
It snowed again tonight, very heavy at times and I shovelled our front porch 4 times before it stopped. I'm so sick of winter and snow and am eagerly awaiting spring to arrive! Yesterday it was mild enough that I heard the birds out calling and it was just a tease! Hurry up spring, I need to see green grass and flowers poking up from the gardens :)

Well, I hope everyone is having a nice weekend, I am enjoying the quiet as everyone is sleeping for the night, lol. I'm off to enjoy reading some more of everyone's blogs since I'm so behind!

Blessings, Trish

February 01, 2011

Welcome to February!! Actually, I can't believe how fast time is flying by, it seems like almost yesterday that it was Christmas.
I had a pretty good weekend even though it was a tad chilly. On Sunday, I had the wonderful opportunity to finally meet a friend of ours that has an MPS disorder similiar to my son Rhys's. We have been trying to get together for awhile now since we only live about 20 mins from each other, but things always seemed to come up etc. I was so happy to at last meet Justin! He is 29 and an inspiration to us for all the things he has overcome and it gives us an insight to what is ahead of us for our Rhys. Rhys had been sick for a few days so he was not able to meet Justin, but when I got home and told Rhys about him, he asked me if he could email Justin to invite him here to watch a NASCAR race when it restarts in just a few short weeks. I thought it was so cute and so did Justin, so Rhys is planning on emailing him very soon. The computer is Rhys's best friend since he can't print on his own very well, but he knows how to run a computer better than I, lol. I cannot wait for the 2 of them to meet! :)
Our weather forecast is looking very snowy :P Yep, that snow storm that many of you guys down in the states are getting is heading our way with lots of snow. Sometime over Tuesday night and Wednesday morning we will be looking at **icky white stuff** and Wednesday is likely going to be a snow for the kids which doesn't happen very often here as we country bumpkins know how to deal with snow and schools are almost always open even if the schools in the bigger cities aren't. I cannot wait for winter to be over myself. Lugging in wood and feeding the animals in freezing, windy weather isn't really my cup of tea but since I'm the only one home during the day, well, let's just say, "lucky me" :(
I wanted to wish my mom a Happy 79 th Birthday on February 2nd, she's down in Florida til April, lucky her! I wonder if she will see her shadow since it will be Groundhogs Dog, haha!

Guess I'm off to bed now, everyone stay safe and warm!

Hugs, Trish
