The very first Boyd's to live in our home, my husband's great great grandparents..now I know where my youngest son gets his looks from!

Found a pic from the auction website of the washstand/dry sink that I got for $22.50. It's on the left hand side. Don't know if I will keep it that color, would love to paint it a more "prim" color, any suggestions? :)

Hugs, Trish

  1. Can't ever go wrong with a distressed black finish....or even a chippy farmhouse white....guess it depends where you're going to be putting it...But it has lots of possibility! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

  3. Hehe, I like the idea of black!! My family would say differently since I like to paint things black lol, and my husband, for some reason likes the color the way it is :( I showed him this pic and he couldn't believe I got it for such a good price...maybe he should go auction hinting with me sometime!! The other cabinet shown went for over $100...thank goodness it wasn't me who paid for it because it had loose hinges and knobs and was more scratched up than the pic showed.

  4. They are so lovely, I would study antiquing techniques, maybe google it or on youtube? and paint them 2 layers, scratched and cracked in all the right places!

  6. I have a dry sink exactly like that! I got mine for $80; wish I'd gotten it for 22.50!
I left mine natural. I have a difficult time painting over a perfectly good wood finish. If it were all scratched up or weathered, I would paint it. I love color and I love distressed and stained for an aged look!
